Dear Hilborn:
What a pleasant surprise it was to find the very same company
my auto dealership had sent me to for convertible top
repairs on my Rolls Royce, many years ago, was the
manufacturer of the rear view camera I had installed in
my 2004 Ford Expedition.
As I explained when I dropped in on you last week, I had a
rear view camera mounted under the bumper of my 2003
Ford Expedition but I was not happy with it. If I was
driving west in the morning, the sun rising in the east
would wash out the image. If I was driving east in the
evening, the sun setting in the west would wash out the
image. In fact, I would say that I only had a decent
image off the camera about 10 percent of the time! So,
when I purchased my 2004 and I went back to the shop
that had installed my "below-bumper camera," I asked if
there wasn't something better. That was when they
installed your camera (which they had acquired from an
out-of-state vendor, not knowing that you supplied it
and that you were right in our area).
What a difference! Your camera is amazing. It took me only a
minute or two to adjust to the "fish eye" image and to
understand just exactly where the end of my vehicle
placed on the screen (I have a TV-type monitor, although
I have seen your system installed on another vehicle
where the image was projected onto a rear view mirror
and was very impressed with that feature as well.) The
picture is bright and clear and never gets washed out
from the sun or reflections off the bumpers of cars
behind me or from their headlights. The area it takes in
is also quite impressive since it shows both the ground
as as the sky and the traffic to the left rear and right
rear. I am also a bit of a neatness fanatic and the
appearance of the camera, as mounted in the middle
(third) brake light below the roof of the Expedition, is
aesthetically pleasing.
All in all you have come up with an exceptional product and,
in fact, if you plan to market your camera in a way that
allows for an investor to participate I would certainly
be interested ... so please let me know about that.
Yours Truly,
Bob Rentzer
